AURORA, Colo. -- Tom T. Remus, 69, died Sunday (April 13, 2008) in his home in Aurora, Colo.
He was born Sept.9, 1938, in Wellfleet to Mae (Gadway) and Alfred Remus. He graduated from UNSTA - Curtis in 1955 and he married Betty Fruit in 1964.
The family lived in Curtis until 1986, where he worked as a carpenter and was a volunteer fireman and EMT. The family then moved to Waxahachie, Texas, Newton, Kan., and then Aurora in 1996, where he continued his work as a carpenter.
He retired in 2004, when he continued his dream of restoring the original land and home of the Remus family homestead settled at the turn of the century by John Remus. He spent much of his time in his last years at the family farm and had planned to return there with his wife after her retirement.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Curtis where he taught Sunday School. In Aurora, he attended Peace with Christ Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and mother and father-in-law.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of Aurora; daughters, LeAnn Cramer and husband, Troy, Ranae Calvert and husband, Mark and Stephanie Lusk and husband,Cory; son, Joe Remus and KristinaWitmer; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation is today until 7 p.m., at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Funeral Home with the family present from 5-7 pm.
Funeral services will be Friday 10 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Curtis with the Rev. Paul Warneke officiating. Burial will immediately following at the Wellfleet Cemetery.
