Jimmy 'Jim' F. Campbell, died Saturday (April 5, 2008) at Community Hospital in McCook at the age of 79.
He was born Aug. 27, 1928, at York, the son of the late Morris A. and Mary Eva ( Flint) Campbell. Jim grew up in York, where he graduated from York High School in 1946.
On June 26, 1949, Jim married Janet Beth Wolford at Gresham. They came to McCook in 1952, where Jim was employed by Pat's Bootery before purchasing Vogue Clothing Store in 1955. Jim and his wife, Jan owned and operated Vogue Clothing until retiring in 1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Flint Campbell; and sisters, Irene Metz, Lucille Gard and Katherine Rathjen.
He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in McCook, Past President of the McCook Chamber of Commerce, McCook Elks Lodge 1434, American Legion and Eagles Club.
Jim is survived by his wife, Janet Campbell of McCook; one son, James Brett Campbell and wife, Tami of Grand Island; two grandchildren, Megan and Kaitlin Campbell; two sisters, Marguerite Hawthorn of Grants Pass, Ore., and Billie Louise DePalma and husband, Ray of Elk Grove Village, Ill.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in McCook with the Rev. Mary Hendricks officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Cedar Lawn Cemetery at Gresham.
Memorials may be given in his name and friends may sign his register at Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
