ATWOOD -- Dora L. "Lu" Gulley, 65, died Wednesday (March 26, 2008) at Atwood Good Samaritan Center.
She was born May 12, 1942, to Walter and Ruth (Marshall) Laybourn in Yuma, Colo. She grew up in the Cope, Colo., area and graduated from Liberty High School in 1960.
She married Ralph Eldon Gulley on Feb. 12, 1961. They moved to Eads, Colo., in 1969, where she was involved in community activities by volunteering with children.
She was active in Bible school and was a Scout den mother, 4-H leader and school sponsor. She served on the Eads School board for eight years as well as with other community groups.
In 1986, they moved to Atwood where she worked as a waitress for several years and later for the Good Samaritan Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in 1988; parents; and father-in-law.
Survivors include her children, Dawn and Louis James of Eads, Dennis of Ludell, Kan., and Derek and Jennifer of Superior, Colo.; one brother; two sisters; her mother-in-law; a sister-in-law; and nine grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, 2 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood with the Rev. David L. Jones officiating. Graveside services will be 4:30 p.m., Saturday at Kirk Community Cemetery in Kirk, Colo.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to donor's choice.
