O. Ellen Underhill

TRENTON -- Orpha Ellen Underhill, 76, died Wednesday (March 26, 2008) at El Dorado Manor in Trenton.

She was born Nov. 7, 1932, in Hayes County, the daughter of the late Malachi Sedwick and Ruth Ann (Goucher) McVicker. She grew up in Hayes County, where she received her education.

On Feb. 9, 1973, Ellen married John Nelson Underhill at Oberlin. In December 1975, Orpha completed her GED and received her diploma from high school. They spent their married life farming south of Trenton, where she enjoyed the outdoors of farm life, her flower garden and loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John on July 2, 2006; two sisters, Elsie Buckley in 1989 and Catherine Curtis in 2003.

Ellen is survived by two brothers, Melvin McVicker of Palisade and Robert McVicker of Columbia, Tenn., relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday at the Church of God in Trenton with the Rev. Johnny Walker officiating. Interment will be in Cornell Cemetery at Trenton.

Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home in Trenton on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1- 6 p.m.
