ARAPAHOE -- Alene I. Vonderfecht, 92, died Wednesday (March 26, 2008) at Good Samaritan Care Center in Arapahoe.
She was born in Madrid on Jan. 2, 1916, to Henry and Gertrude (Rader) Dorow. She grew up in Madrid and attended school graduating from Madrid High School in 1933. She attended Kearney State Teachers College getting her teaching certificate. She taught school in Madrid for one year.
On Feb. 1, 1936, she married Floyd H. Vonderfecht and he preceded her in death on April 25, 1972.
She was a Jehovah Witness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; granddaughter, Amanda Elmore; two sisters, Maxine Callahan and Rosita Crider; and two brothers, Charles and Gernon.
Survivors include her three daughters, Mary Jean Mohrman of Tallahassee, Fla., Janet and husband, Tom Hoffman of Thorton, Colo., and Susan and husband, Dean Elmore of Wichita, Kan.; and one son, Don and wife, Virginia Vonderfecht of Holbrook.
Funeral services will be at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge on Saturday at 2 p.m., with Daryl Wyatt conducting services. Interment will be in the Holbrook Cemetery.
Memorials may be left in her name to the Holdrege Congregation of Jehovah Witness
