NORTON, Kan. -- Eva Mae Cuthbertson, 98, died Saturday (March 15, 2008) at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oberlin.
She was born July 1, 1909, to Lewis and Anna (Horesky) Cope in Norton County, Kan. She grew up in Norton County and graduated from the Norton Community High School in 1926.
On Oct. 24, 1931, she married Leon Cuthbertson in Oberlin. They made their home and farmed in the Dellvale/Oronoque community from 1931 to 1941, at which time they moved to Reager. In 1954, they moved to Norcatur, Kan., and then to Norton in 1978. In 1994, she moved to Oberlin.
She taught at rural schools in Norton County and also worked as a sales clerk and wallpaper hanger.
She was lifetime member of the Rebekah Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Ray Cope and one sister, Faye Weber.
Survivors include one daughter, Anita and husband, Bob Montgomery of Oberlin; one brother, Ray Lee and wife, Faye Cope of Oakhurst, Calif.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services were Wednesday, March 19, in Norton.
Memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Oberlin.
