Lovitt, Ohlson wedding

Calena and Andrew Ohlson

HILDRETH -- Calena Marie Jones Lovitt and Andrew Douglas Ohlson, both of Holdrege, were united in marriage on Dec. 14, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with the Rev. Sylvia High Karlsson, great aunt of the bride, officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mary Hock and Dave Dahlgren of Holdrege, and Roger and Kathy Jones of Smithfield. The bridegroom is the son of Marge and Jim Shafer of Otis, Colo., and Doug and Keri Ohlson of McCook.

The bride wore a soft white gown with beaded sequins covering the bodice. The full satin skirt swept into a chapel length train. She carried a bouquet of red roses.

Sierra Jones, sister of the bride, of Holdrege, was the maid of honor. Sally Lukas of Wray, Colo., and Cyan DeWalt, step-sister of the bridegroom, of Lincoln, served as bridesmaids. They wore black dresses with a claret red sash and carried three long stemmed red roses.

Scott Ohlson, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Junior bridegroomsmen were Alec and Aden Lovitt, sons of the bride. Serving as bridegroomsmen were Nick Rayer of Grand Junction, Colo., and Brian Pankonin of Chadron.

Honored guests were Janyce Hock, grandmother of the bride, and Lavonne Ohlson, grandmother of the bridegroom.

A duet, "Come What May," was sung by Lori Engler and Doug Ohlson. The bride sang "At Last" at the end of the ceremony as a surprise gift to the bridegroom.

A dinner reception, prepared by the bridgegroom, was at the Upper Room in Holdrege following the ceremony.

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Bertrand High School and a 2005 graduate of the University of Nebraska- Kearney. She is currently teaching fourth grade in the Holdrege Public Schools.

The bridegroom is a 2002 graduate of Chase County High School and attended Chadron State College. He is currently employed as the chef at the Upper Room restaurant in Holdrege.

After a honeymoon in Mexico, the couple is at home in Holdrege.
