INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- Marjorie Mae Walters passed away in Indianapolis, Ind., on Jan. 8, 2008, just two days before her 90th birthday.
She was born Jan. 10, 1918, in Kansas City, Mo., and was adopted at an early age by Arthur E. and Florence (Houser) Walters. She grew up on a farm in Hitchcock County and attended rural school district 74 and graduated from Trenton High School.
Marjorie received her nurses training from St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colo. She later moved to Salem Ore., where she served as a registered nurse at the State Farm Insurance Regional Office. She retired in 1984, after 27 years.
She loved caring for people. She moved to Indianapolis in 1996, to be closer to her friend and "adopted" son, Duane and wife, Susan Thomas and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Florence Walters; brother, Robert Walters; and sisters, Alma Lou Moffett, Eunice Evans and Ellen O'Leary.
Survivors include her sisters, Norma and husband, Orlan Cole of Culbertson, Abby Bilyard of Loveland, Colo., and Myrna Morrison of Leadville, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were Jan. 26, 2008, at New Paradigm Christian Church in Indianapolis.
