Bertha Marie Monter

ARAPAHOE -- Bertha Marie Monter, 96, died Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2008) at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
She was born April 25, 1911, in Gosper County to Charles and Emilie (Hinz) Gehring. She was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, north of Arapahoe. She attended the Lone Tree and Immanuel Lutheran schools.
On March 20, 1930, she married Herman Monter. In 1950, they moved west of Arapahoe. In 1973, she moved to Arapahoe.
In 1977, her husband died. She worked as a housekeeper for families in the Arapahoe community until her 80th birthday. The last few years she has lived in C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women's Mission League of Arapahoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; brothers, George, Bill, Gordon, Paul and Edward Monter; sister, Erna; and son-in-law, Ron Glanzer
Survivors include her daughters, Dolores and husband, Leyland Hermes of Rogers, Ark., Gertrude and husband, Eugene McCue of Alma and Ruth Glanzer of Longmont, Colo.; sister, Myrtle Hain of California; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 1:30 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, with the Rev. David Otten officiating. Burial will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the services at the church on Friday.
