ATWOOD -- Doris Adams passed into eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at Rawlins County Hospital at the age of 84.
Born Doris Hinderike Wilhelms on Sept. 7, 1923, in rural Webster County near Rosemont, the daughter of Carl M. and Eisine (Ida) (Hoppen) Wilhelms, she was the second child in a family of six. She was raised in the Presbyterian faith. Following graduation from Blue Hill High School in 1940, she was employed as a rural school teacher.
Following conversion to the Catholic faith in 1946, Doris married Joseph G. Hubl on Sept. 24, 1946. They moved to the Trenton community in 1947, where they engaged in farming. Following Joe's death in 1976, Doris moved into Trenton, although she remained active in the operation of the farm.
On May 2, 1982, Doris was united in marriage to John J. Adams and subsequently moved to Atwood. The memory of her integrity,industry and high standards of living is a heritage she has left to her family.
Survivors are her husband John; three daughters, Mrs. John (Marilyn) O'Byrne of Trenton, Mrs. Al (Linda) Currie of Ord and Mrs. Ed (Judy) Todd,; one son, Roger Hubl and wife, Janet of Trenton; 10 grandchildren, Melissa Dailey (JH) of Stratton, Melanie Schnabel (Leon) of Brule, Megan O'Byrne of Bowling Green, Ohio and Hugh O'Byrne of Trenton, Tracie McClure (Allen) of Hastings, Dr. Bryan Hubl and wife, Ann of Hebron, Bradley Hubl of Omaha, Tyler Hubl of Littleton, Colo., Travis Hubl of Trenton and Dustin Todd of Trenton.
She also leaves to mourn five great-grandchildren, Kyle and Logan Dailey, Kris and Zack Schnabel and Nia McClure. Sisters surviving are Norina Easter and husband, Dawson, Irma Nejezchleb, Eleanor Jensen and Mona Faimon.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Roy and granddaughter, Peggy O'Byrne.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. (CST) Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with Revs. Galen Long and Val Bartek officiating.
The rosary will be at St. James Catholic Church in Trenton on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
Interment will be in St. James Cemetery at Trenton.
