E-F Knight boys fall in

semifinals to Maxwell

NORTH PLATTE -- Eustis-Farnam's boys and girls basketball teams competed in the semifinals at the Central Platte Conference tournament in North Platte Thursday.

The Knight girls blasted Maxwell 45-19. The boys came up short to Maxwell 69-60.

Jacey Schultheiss led the girls to the win over Maxwell. Schultheiss put in 14 points and both Jordan Rieker and Katie Fagot had 10.

Schultheiss also led in rebounds with 8 and had 2 assists and 5 steals. Fagot had 3 assists and 4 steals and Taryn Pieper had 6 steals.

Rieker had 4 rebounds and 3 steals and Lindsey Ferrell helped out with 5 assists, 5 steals and 4 blocked shots.

"Our defense was pretty stingy tonight as we did a nice job limiting Maxwell's opportunities," said Knights girls coach Brad Dunlap.

"We collected 25 steals and that led to some fastbreak hoops. We moved the ball well on offense but didn't convert some easy chances. We'll keep shooting and hope a few more fall on Saturday. Our defense gives us a shot to win most games, but we'll need to shoot well to win Saturday night."

Weston Keller posted 23 points for the Knight boys. Drew Wetovick added in 13 and Derek Williams had 7. Wetovick led in rebounds with 8 and had 4 steals.

Keller had 3 rebounds and 3 assists and Williams had 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.

"This game was very similar to the EF/Maxwell game from last Friday," said Knights' boys coach Bobby Johnson. "But this time Maxwell was the team shooting better, rebounding stronger and hustling after the lose balls.

Maxwell was the team that outplayed EF. They did a good job of limiting our inside scoring. Every time we would get close Maxwell would respond with a big basket of their own."
