SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Dorothy (Leonard) Eisenhart died Sunday (Nov. 25, 2007) at San Antonio, Texas at the age of 93.
She was born Sept. 6, 1914, at Boston, Mass., the daughter of John and Mary (O'Brien) Leonard. Dorothy grew up in Boston where she received her nurses training and on Nov. 9, 1937, she entered the U.S.Army Nurse Corp as Second Lieutenant.
They made their home at numerous bases until the death of her husband, Brigadier General Charles M. Eisenhart in the crash of a KC135 tanker at Minot, N.D., on Jan. 17, 1968. She later returned to San Antonio where she spent the remainder of her life.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Donald; and one sister, Muriel Tavares.
She is survived by her daughter, Marion K. Andersen of Kentucky, four grandchildren and several relatives in the Culbertson, Neb., area.
Mass of Christian burial was today at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Inurnment with military honors was in the Culbertson Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her name.
