LUDELL, Kan. -- Charles Adrian Vap, 74, died Saturday (Jan. 12, 2008), at his home near Ludell, Kan.
He was born Nov. 1, 1933, in rural Ludell, to Charles and Theresa (Kopriva) Vap. He attended school in Atwood and graduated from Atwood High School in 1953. He later attended Colby Community College.
He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith.
He worked as a farmer. He also worked for Chrysler Corporation in Denver, Colo. He was a mechanic; restoring tractors, scooters and a car and was also a pilot.
He belonged to the Atwood Flying Club and the Tri State Antique Engine and Thresher Association of Bird City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Vap and Theresa Vap Blanding; an infant brother, Adrian Charles; sister, Carleen Simonis; step-father, Lloyd E. Blanding; one step-brother; and two step-sisters.
Survivors include his two nieces, Diana Corpstein and husband, John of Easton, Kan., and Julie Niemenski and husband, Tim of Leavenworth, Kan.; one nephew, John Simonis and wife, Teresa of Leavenworth, Kan.; a step-brother, Kenneth E. Blanding; five great-nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood, with the Revs. Galen Long of Atwood and Val Bartek of Trenton officiating.
Graveside services and interment will be Sunday, Jan. 12, at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Atwood.
Memorials may be given in his name to Atwood Flying Club or for a scholarship to Colby Community College.
