at GINW today

The McCook Bison girls were out of synch on offense in Friday night's varsity basketball game against Hastings at the MHS gymnasium and it did not help their cause when senior point guard Austin Wilson injured her ankle.

The Bison dropped a 34-29 decision to the Tigers and dropped to 5-10 for the season.

Wilson was taken out of the game at the 3:28 mark of the first quarter.

"Austin went down and that took a little out of them," said McCook girls coach Barry Schaeffer. "She's our floor general. Give a little credit to Hastings. They wanted a slower pace. We were not consistent. We're better than 29 points on the board."

The score was tied 8-8 at the end of the first quarter and Hastings led 17-13 at halftime. McCook tied the score at 23-23 at the end of the third quarter and had its last lead at 25-23.

Kelsee Meissner led the Bison in scoring with 7 points. Lindsey Hazlitt and Joanna Bryant each scored 6. Melissa Lyster and Tara Powell each had 3 points. Wilson and Brianna Watkins each scored 2 points.

Meissner and Powell hit 3-pointers.

Hazlitt had 7 rebounds, Meissner 6 and Lyster 4. Meissner had 4 steals and Bryant 2.

McCook made just 9-of-44 field goals (20.5 percent) and 9-of-11 free throws (81.8 percent).

Hannah Rundle led Hastings with 10 points. Allison Kern added 6
