Don't we have a two-term limit?

Thursday, January 10, 2008
I don't know about the rest of you, but after Hillary's waterworks this week, I think she should join all those stars nominated for the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, the People's Choice Awards and any other ceremony honoring people who actually know how to cry on cue.

They could start a new category: Ellen Degneres, Heather Mills and Hillary Clinton for The Year's Best Crying Performance.

I've never actually gotten the art down to a science. Sure, there may be times when I tear up at the appropriate moment, but I can't just make it happen for convenience' sake. Usually it just creeps on me and hits me when I least expect it.

Some people, however, do have it down pat.

Hillary Clinton spent eight years in the White House -- some may say she spent eight years running the White House, since her husband was otherwise occupied -- and never once do I remember seeing this woman shed a tear.

Not during the Whitewater investigation, never during the Lewinsky fiasco, I honestly can't remember ever seeing the woman get emotional.

Suddenly, after losing the Iowa Caucus to Barack Obama, she becomes a woman capable of shedding tears.

Is it a sham? Some say it is, some say it isn't. I say it was a little convenient -- maybe too convenient.

Whatever the case, it seems to have worked, at least for the New Hampshire voters. I hope the rest of the country can see past the tears and look at the big picture.

I don't like being lied to. I don't like being misled, and I certainly don't want a president in the Oval Office who is going to start bawling every time she (or he) gets a little stressed out or has a veto overturned by the legislature.

If she can't handle the stress of the campaign trail, how is she going to handle the stress of every day life as president of the most powerful country in the world? We all know Bill will do what he can to offer his support, everything, that is, except putting his signature on the appropriate line, he'll leave that up to his wife.

Electing Hillary will be something akin to watching the White House from 1993 -- 2001 in a mirror.

Frankly, I have no desire to relive the debacle that was the Clinton Adminis-tration.

Hillary continues to use her "experience in the White House" as part of her platform, since she already admits she has eight years of experience in the White House -- one thing she says that I am actually inclined to believe, since Bill was otherwise occupied -- is she actually eligible to run for President of the United States? I always thought there was a two-term limit for that particular office.

I am convinced that it's time for a woman president. Hillary may not be the person but I think it's pretty sad that we need to pull her down based on what her husband did.

How disrespectful of an article. I know there a freedom of speech however this may cross the line. Women and men alike can get stressed at any given time under any circumstances. She is a human being and showed her emotion like anyone else would have under the same circumstances. She was speaking from her heart. That's one thing I haven't seen from Obama -- heart and experience. Yes, could he be a good president? However, HE HAS NOT EXPERIENCE. She's got the heart and the experience that needed. Do you really want someone who is cold hearted and has an Iranian upbringing?

I'm wondering why anyone would heed the political musings of a second rate columnist at a second rate rag newspaper in a cultural, social, and intellectual backwater town in a flyover state?

Also which candidate has an Iranian upbringing?I used to dismiss those derisive statements about the state of the education of the typical American citizen, but after reading that comment perhaps I was too quick to defend our schools.

Response by McCook:
That may be true, but boy, do we have a good library!

good article Gloria, of course it was staged. The Clintons will do anything and everything to get the power back. And rural citizen, if you think the campaign trail is stressful, what do you think it will be like if she becomes president. Hell she'll be crying all the time.

If you think Hillary can cry, wait til after the election. If she gets elected you will, within a year would be my guess, see the whole country in tears.

LOL just read the response by davis; sounds like a typical elitist snob retort, to me. the conservatives have their problems, but when it comes to slinging snot and tears, they don't hold a candle to the liberals

Maybe this country needs a president who cries in public, who has a heart, who actually cares about their families and the US citizens. We need someone who really cares about what they are doing for us instead of for themselves. Obviously, the current president could only care about his oil bank account........

Bla, bla, bla same old liberal poor me wine. For liberals it's always about what can the government do for me. Try taking responsibility for your own failures and stop expecting the government to take care of you. Believe me in the long run you'll be a lot better of.

another big belly laugh. if ANYONE thinks Hillary Clinton cares about anyone but herself, I have some land for sale in Florida. IMHO, H Clinton is the most cold-hearted, calculating politician to walk the face of the earth. I don't think Slick Willie can even hold a candle to her. I will give her credit for one thing only - she is very intelligent.

FYI, I'm a woman and Republican...Not a liberal as you say. I take care of myself and my family perfect and WILL NEVER rely on the government for assistance. I was stating that I wish we had a president who cared as much about this country as they did their family. Mrs. Clinton seems to have it all. Will I vote for her? No...haven't been pushed that hard to switch parties. However, she's a better bet than Obama who doesn't know beans about running a business, state or country. He's a lot of hot air and YES MAM!!!

-- Posted by Rural Citizen on Fri, Jan 11, 2008, at 1:23 PM

You had me going until you ended your comment with Obman being a YES MAM". Not only are you not a republican you're a racist, which in my experience more then likely makes you a democrat!

-- Posted by remington81 on Fri, Jan 11, 2008, at 2:59 PM

Where in the world did you get that I'm a racist? I could care less whether or not Obama is black or white. He's a "yes mam" person because he'll do anything and say anything you want. As far as your experience? Better go back to school buddy and get some more education because you really don't know.
