LUDELL -- Tressie Bell (Flood) Samson, 100, died Sunday (Jan. 6, 2008), at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
She was born Dec. 5, 1907, in a sod house south of Trenton to James Edward and Martha "Mattie" Elizabeth (Frakes) Flood. She completed eight years of country school at District No. 15.
On May 29, 1929, she married Adrian "Ed" Francis Samson at Atwood.They rented a farm from his sister, Annie Simminger east of Atwood until purchasing a farm east of Ludell in 1941. She lived on the farm until 2003 when she moved to the Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
She was a farm wife and a member of the United Methodist Church in Atwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1976; and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Frances Elizabeth and husband, Virgil Dean Carpenter of Del City, Okla., and Shirley Ann and husband, James Cogburn of Hobbs, N.M.; a son, Richard Bernard Samson and wife, Bernadine of Ludell; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and seven step-great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Atwood with the Rev. Terry McGuire officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at the Ludell Cemetery in Ludell.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood, and Thursday after 9:30 a.m., at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Atwood United Methodist Church or the Ludell Community Building Fund.
