Francis Eugene Young, 79, went to live with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008. He died at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

He was born Sept. 4, 1928, at Magnet, to Clarence and Anna Mae (Mitchell) Young. While growing up, he and his family lived in Boyd, Knox, Pierce and Holt counties. He attended school at Chambers.

He was married to Leanna Mae Trebold at Chambers on Sept. 27, 1947. To this union one daughter, Eileen Kay, was born. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2007.

Francis worked on a ranch south of Atkinson until 1949. They moved to Kearney in 1949, where he was a crane operator for the Department of Roads for 14 years. They owned and operated the Rodeo Motel and Trailer Court for five years. He then had his own crane business, Young's Crane Service, for 30 years.

In 1994, he retired and they moved to Carthage, Mo., to enjoy their retirement years. In 2004, they moved to McCook to be close to their daughter and family.

He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior in 1951, and has been involved in the Lord's work since that time.

He is a member of the McCook Evangelical Free Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Flossie Hansen.

He is survived by his wife, Leanna of McCook; daughter, and son-in-law, Eileen and George Young of McCook; three grandchildren and spouses, Greg and Jennifer Young of Lincoln, Angela and Jason Downs of Lincoln and Kyle and Amanda Young of Humbolt, S.D.; two great-grandsons, Michael Young and Seth Downs; two sisters and spouses, Betty and Lee Mitchell of Meridian Idaho and Darlene and Bernie Hoerle of Columbus; six brothers and spouses, Harold and Norma Young of Weiser, Idaho, Burl Young and wife, Joanne of Meridian, Idaho, Richard Young and wife, Elaine of Columbus, William and Karen Young of Caldwell, Idaho, Ronald and Hazel Young of Nampa, Idaho and Clarence and Patricia Young of Hansville, Wash.; and brother-in-law, Merl Hansen of Meridian, Idaho.

Memorials may be given in his name to the McCook Evangelical Free Church or to McCook Community Home Health and Hospice.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. The family will be present to meet friends today from 6-8 p.m. Friends and family may send condolences on-line at www.carpenterbreland.com.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m., at the Evangelical Free Church in McCook with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
