Jillian Bryant scores 10 points in Dana women's loss to Northwood

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Dana College women's basketball team lost to Northwood University 71-57 Tuesday in the Northwood Classic.

Amanda Bryant had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Dana, while Tricia Trotter hit four threes en route to 14 points. Jillian Bryant and Nichol added 10 each.

Dana's Amanda Bryant was named to the all tournament team with 42 points in two games.

Katie Vican and Caitlin Noble led the Seahawks with with 14 points apiece, and Christian Daniels chipped in 10. Wencis added six assists, and Cooley had two steals and two blocks to put away the Vikings.

The Seahawks seemed to have the game in control, going up 25-12 with 6:21 remaining in the first half, and went into the break up 31-18 on Caitlin Noble's layup with eight seconds remaining.

Dana, which hadn't attempted a three throughout the first half made 5-of-13 in the second half to get as many as three points on a three point play from Amy Nichol with 6:20 remaining.

A three from Megan Finn and a jumper from Jillian Bryant cut the lead to nine before Nichol's three point play.

Sissy Ryan responded on the very next possesion with a 3-point play of her own, and Wencis and Cooley hit layups with return the lead to 66-52.

Dana lost to Notre Dame College from Ohio 73-55 Monday night in the first round of the Northwood Tournament.

Amanda Bryant scored 26 points. Jillian Bryant and Trotter each scored 8. Amy Nichol had 6 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists.

Dana is now 4-11 on the season. The Vikings will to action Jan. 2 against the University of Minnesota-Mankato at Mankato.

The Vikings will host the University of Sioux Falls at 6 p.m. on Jan. 5.
