CAMBRIDGE -- Dennis Johnson, 61, died Friday (Dec. 14, 2007) at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1946, in Cambridge to Lester and Vera (Stevens) Johnson. He graduated from Cambridge High School.
On July 22, 1974, he married Linda Gordon. He was active in the United Methodist Church of Cambridge, Lay Witness programs. He had been on Mission trips to Africa and many states in the United States. He was a certified scuba diver and had made trips to California, Alaska, Mexico, Catalina Island in the Pacific and the Caribbean Islands. He belonged to the Cambridge Saddle Club.
He was an accomplished welder and opened his own welding shop working on irrigation pipe, building fence and gate panels. He worked for Besler Industries before returning to farming.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Leslie and a sister, Vivian Roberts.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Cambridge; two daughters, Lanette Johnson and Teresha and husband, David Mowry all of Lincoln; his step-mother, Billie Johnson of Cambridge; three sisters, Barbara and husband, Bob Roberts of Mesa, Ariz., Eunice and husband, Loren Rice of Lincoln and Margie and husband, Greg Klocke of Manhattan, Kan.; and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery of Cambridge.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established his name.
