MCC men drop games to DCCC, Iowa Western

DODGE CITY, Kan. -- The McCook Community College men's basketball team lost to Dodge City (Kan.) Community College 91-56 Tuesday night at the Dodge City Civic Center.

The Indians dropped a 76-66 decision to nationally-ranked Iowa Western at True Haull Gymnasium. The Reivers No. 13 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll with a 6-0 record.

No Indians scored in double figures in the loss at Dodge City.

Wauneta-Palisade freshman Trevor Ridlen led MCC with 8 points. Javoun Martin scored 7, Manuel Cook 7, Josh Fanslow 6, Lavonte Rhines 5, Trey Mosby 5, Jared Deal 5, Ronnell Grant 4, Lionel Robinson 4, Russell Ridlen 3 and Nate Lark 2.

Fanslow grabbed 8 rebounds and dished off 3 assists. Mosby and Grant each had 2 steals.

Jase Herl and Ty Patterson each scored 19 points for the Conquistadors. Anthony Harris added 12 and DeMario Williams 11.

Rhines led the Indians with 22 points in the Iowa Western game. Mosby had 12 points, Martin 11, Deal 8, Lark 4, Cook 2, Robinson 2, Trevor Ridlen 2, Grant 1, Fanslow 1 and Russell Ridlen 1.

Derwin Kitchen led the Reivers with 18 points. Chris Poellnitz 16 and Ray Miller 14.

MCC hosts the McCook Classic during the Thanksgiving weekend. MCC takes on the William Penn junior varsity at 8 p.m. Friday and the MCC All-Stars at 4 p.m. Saturday.

MCC women's update -- The MCC women went 0-3 at the Casper, Wyo., Classic last weekend and dropped to 2-5.

The Indians lost to Casper College 89-43, Miles, Mont., 86-57 and Sheridan, Wyo., 105-74.

Heaven Johnson scored 12 points to lead MCC in the Casper game and 16 in the Sheridan game. Bridgette Riddick had 21 against Miles and 16 against Sheridan. Ali Brickley scored 12 and Ashley Foe 10 against Sheridan.

The MCC women compete in the Region IX South Sub-Regional Nov. 29-Dec. 1 at Lamar, Colo.

MCC plays Otero Junior College at 7 p.m. Nov. 29, Western Nebraska at 3 p.m. Nov. 30 and Lamar at 7 p.m. Dec. 1.
