LeRoy John Leibrandt, 89, went to live with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday Oct. 24, 2007. He died at Community Hospital in McCook.

He was born June 19, 1918, to John C. and Lydia (Geisler) Leibrandt on the farm southeast of McCook. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church - Ashcreek on July 4, 1918, and was confirmed April 9, 1933, by Reverend Lesel. He attended school to the eighth grade at District 25 School in Red Willow County.

On March 9, 1940, he married Lois Virginia Johnson at Oberlin. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year. To this union were born LeAnna Leibrandt, Larry Leibrandt, Loneta McKiernan, Linda Taylor and LaVonne Salisbury.

Survivors are his four daughters and son-in-law, Bill McKiernan; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Lois; his parents, John and Lydia Leibrandt; two sisters, Velma Peters and LaVina Knosp; and his son, Larry.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, Nebraska Wheat Growers, Farm Bureau, Rural School Board and Rural Gerver Telephone Company.

He was vice president of the Red Willow County fair board for 42 years. He and his wife, Lois were the 1999 Heritage Days Honor Family of the year.

He enjoyed his family and their involvement with the fair and 4-H activities. He loved and had great talent of music. Among his many musical talents were playing his accordion, banjo, piano, mandolin, fiddle and guitar by ear. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing, which produced many awards.

He was a farmer for 70 plus years and loved God's land. LeRoy has lived a very fulfilling life and will be missed by family and many friends.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, with the Rev. Brad Rick officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.

Memorials will be accepted in lieu of flowers and friends may call at Hermann Funeral Home from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
