ATWOOD â€" Martin E. Waterman Sr., 88, died Monday (Oct. 15, 2007) at the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.
He was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Steinauer to Herman and Clara (Siske) Waterman. He was baptized Oct. 26, 1919, and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ludell in 1933.
He served in the U.S. Army four years during World War II in Germany, France and England. He was a Technician 5th grade in the 27th Army Infantry Battalion and received an honorable discharge Sept. 21, 1945.
He was a farmer and moved to Atwood following retirement.
He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a member of both the Trinity Lutheran Church in Colby and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Atwood.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughters, Coleen Bowen of Wray, Colo., Janet and husband, Carl Miller of Gem, Kan., Virginia and husband, Gary Solko of Ludell; a son, Martin Jr. and wife, Jane Waterman of Atwood; a sister, Verda Kroemer of Pawnee City; a sister-in-law, Lila Waterman of Atwood; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 p.m., Saturday at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Atwood with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard will follow at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood and after 10 a.m., Saturday at the church.
Memorials may be addressed in his name to the church or to Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.
