BEAVER?CITY?-- Wendell P. West, 84, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2007) at Beaver City Manor.

He was born Sept. 25, 1923, at Stamford to Harold and Grace (Bain) West. He was raised in Stamford and graduated from Beaver City High School in 1941. Following graduation, he started farming.

He married Marjorie Stapp on Aug. 28, 1944, at Norton, Kan. They moved into Beaver City and continued to farm, until he went to work for the ASCS office in Beaver City in the 1960s. He moved up into management and retired in the 1980s.

He was mayor of Beaver City for four terms. He moved into the Beaver City Manor in April of 2007.

He was a member of First Christian Church of Beaver City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of Beaver City; daughter, Sharon Buffington and husband, Ron of Olatha, Kan.; sister, Carol White of Oxford; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, with the Rev. Phil Olsen officiating.

There is no visitation, his body was cremated.
