Betty Jane Sullivan, 84, formerly of Windsor, Colo., died Wednesday (Oct. 10, 2007) at Community Hospital of McCook.
She was born Nov. 23, 1922, in Rochester, N.Y., to William and Edna (Spencer) Ambrose. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Rochester.
On April 13, 1943, she married William Sullivan in Atlanta, Ga., where he was stationed in the Army. They resided in Rochester until moving to Windsor in 1977.
She was an active member of church most of her life. Over the years, she volunteered in many ways including teaching others to read and assisting residents of a nursing home to participate in activities and crafts. She moved to McCook in 1998. Before her stroke in September 2001 she enjoyed many activities at the senior center and the United Methodist Church in McCook. She resided at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two infant children; her parents; and brothers Lincoln and Robert Ambrose.
She is survived by her children, Maureen Giorgione and husband, Pietro of McCook, Charlene Schwartz and husband, Michael of Spencerport, N.Y., Thomas Sullivan and wife, Mary of Lyons; N.Y.; brothers John Ambrose and wife Trudy, of Houston, Texas and Fred Ambrose of Rochester; sister-in-law, Helen Ambrose of Sumner, Wash.; former daughter-in-law, Louisa Leeson of Rochester; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, at Adamson West Chapel located at 2000 47th Avenue in Greeley, Colo. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor.
Visitation will be Saturday, 8-10 a.m., at Adamson West Chapel.
