What is it?

Connie Jo Discoe/McCook Daily Gazette

What was "Brunswick V&B"? Aaron Pierson of McCook discovered this trade coin exposed on top of the dirt beside the cellar door of his home in the 500 block of West Second, and wonders what store it belonged to. The coin is aluminum, or maybe pot metal, and is pitted where Pierson rubbed off accumulated years of dirt and grime. Call the Gazette, (308) 345-4500, and ask for Connie, or send an email to cdiscoe@mccookgazette.com to reveal the secret about "Brunswick V&B."

  • Aluminum trade tokens were popular around WW1 and a little earlier. As for what it stands for.....Billiards were very popular back then and I have several from Bartley that say the same on the back that came from the local pool/billiards hall As for the V?

It could also be from a mercantile too.

    Only a guess though.
