IMPERIAL -- Timothy Jay Long, 56, died Sunday (Sept. 30, 2007) at Chase County Community Hospital.
He was born Jan. 21, 1951, at Grant to Marion and Alberta (Parde) Long. The family moved to Salem, Ore., where he grew up and attended school, graduating from South Salem?High School in 1969.
He was employed in several locations in Salem, including the Salem Mushroom Plant, where he worked with the boiler system, for more than 10 years.
He then moved to Wauneta, to be near family and was employed with the Trinidad Bean Company in Imperial. He was foreman until his health forced him to retire.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Long, sister, Linda Hawkins and grandparents, Arnold and Louise Bartels and Haskell and Hazel Long.
Survivors include his parents, Marion and Albert Long of Wauneta; son, Jacob Long of Wauneta; step-son, Bernard Joel Sierzega of Salem, Ore.; sister, Diann Cummings of Big Springs; brother, David Long of Salem, Ore.; one granddaughter; and one step-grandson.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta, with the Rev. Greg Stuckwisch officiating.
Visitation is today until 6 p.m., at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta.
Memorials may be given to Wauneta EMT's and Ambulance Service.
