LINCOLN -- Dr. Jim Tenopir, executive director of the Nebraska School Activities Association, will be at Wauneta-Palisade High School on Friday to present the 2006-07 NSAA Cups.

Tenopir will honor the Wauneta-Palisade boys and girls activities programs for their performances in last year's NSAA state championship events during a halftime ceremony at the Broncos' home football game against Dundy County-Stratton High School.

Tenopir will present the Broncos with the inaugural Boys Class D NSAA Cup and the NSAA's first Class D All-School Cup.

On the boys side, Wauneta-Palisade won its first state basketball championship in school history, finished third at the NSAA state track and field championships and tied for third during the state football playoffs to take the Class D Boys Cup.

Wauneta-Palisade combined its boys performances with the girls activities program to score 270 points and clinch the overall NSAA Cup championship for Class D.

The Bronco girls tied for fifth at the state basketball championships, and recorded a fifth-place finish at the state track and field championships.

Wauneta-Palisade also finished sixth at the NSAA speech championships to win two of the three NSAA Cups in Class D.

The Wauneta-Palisade football game against Dundy Country-Stratton is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. mountain time.
