ARAPAHOE -- Laura Marie Stewart, 89, died Thursday (Sept. 6, 2007), at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.
She was born Jan. 15, 1918, at Wilsonville, to Roy and Rosa (Millard) James. She was raised by her grandparents in Wilsonville and graduated from Wilsonville High School in 1937.
On June 5, 1937, she married Ernest Edward Stewart at Beaver City. They farmed north of Arapahoe for many years.
She worked as a nurse's aide at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center for 20 years, moving there in 1998 due to health reasons.
She was a member of the Christian Church of Christ and the Friendly Circle Extension Club of Arapahoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; and a son, Billy E. Stewart.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie Stewart and fiance, Elsie Brumagen of Lincoln; a daughter, V. Kay Adden of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at the Christian Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Joe Stapleton officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.
Viewing and visitation is Sunday, 1-5 p.m., and Monday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home.
