ATWOOD -- Harold J. Focke, 77, died Thursday (Aug. 30, 2007), at Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.
He was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Blakeman, Kan., to Henry Sr., and Regina (Dunker) Focke. He was baptized on Aug. 17, 1930 and confirmed on April 2, 1944, at Trinity Lutheran Church.
He married Delores Jean Vap on Dec. 29, 1951, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin. He was a farmer and continued the Focke farming tradition until his retirement in 2001. He also sold mutual funds and insurance and was a director of the Farmers State Bank of Ludell for nine years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Regina Focke and two brothers, Hank and Eugene in infancy.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; children, Cynthia and John Buck; Melanie and Randy Prideaux, Bill and Carla Focke and James and Jackie Focke; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a niece and nephews; and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Atwood with the Rev. Don White officiating. Graveside services and interment was at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the church or Presbyterian-St. Luke's Heart Failure Program and may be left at Williams Funeral Home
