ARAPAHOE -- Rachel L. Mues, 98, died Sunday (Sept. 2, 2007) at St. John's Care Center in Kearney.
She was born Sept. 2, 1909, to Carl and Mary (Honnann) Mock at Holbrook. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in 1922, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Holbrook. She graduated from Holbrook High School in 1927. She worked at a general merchandising store.
She married Ernest Mues on June 9, 1932. They made their home at rural Holbrook and farmed there until their retirement in 1968, when they moved to Arapahoe. While living in Arapahoe she worked at Morris Drug and Hemelstrand's Hardware. After Ernest's death in 1993, she remained in Arapahoe for several years and later moved to Prairie Pines Retirement Home in Arapahoe. In 2003, she moved to St. John's Care Center in Kearney.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; brothers, Carl Jr., and Arthur Mock; sister, Mabel Mues; and son-in-law, Harve Henry.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly and husband, Duane Freeman of Hastings and Dot Henry of Kearney; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, with the Rev. David Otten officiating. Interment will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to services at the church.
