Ann Uerling Sughroue
LINCOLN?-- Ann Uerling Sughroue, 75. Ann was born June 20, 1932, in Indianola, to Joseph and Helen (Ten Voorde) Uerling. Ann graduated from Indianola High School, attended McCook College and afterward taught grade school in Kansas.
After a whirlwind summer courtship, Ann married Gerald Sughroue at St. Catherine's church in Indianola. Ann and Gerald ("Jerry" or "Gyp") moved to Greeley, Colo., while Gyp finished his master's degree and they started a family.
Over the course of their 43 years of marriage they also lived in Indianola, McCook and finally in Lincoln. Ann taught at Arnold and Hayward schools and retired after many years at Lincoln High School.
She was an active member of the Cathedral of the Risen Christ, the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters.
Ann is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kristy, Fort Worth, Texas; Scott and Suzanne, Lincoln; Conor and Mary Ellen, Lincoln; Jon and Dini, Baltimore, Md.; Jerry and Denise, Marengo, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Joe Pina, Kailua, Hawaii; eighteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a loving extended family and many wonderful friends. Preceded in death by husband Gerald, mother Helen, father Joseph, and brother Harry.
Mass of Resurrection 10 a.m., Wednesday at Cathedral of the Risen Christ, 3500 Sheridan Blvd, Lincoln.
Visitation is Tuesday from 2-5 p.m., at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street. Rosary is Tuesday, 7 p.m., at Cathedral of the Risen Christ.
Graveside services 4:30 p.m., Wednesday at St. Catherine's Cemetery in Indianola.
