BEAVER CITY -- Thelma F. Simmons, 99, died Wednesday (Aug. 15, 2007), at Beaver City Manor in Beaver City.

She was born Aug. 26, 1907, at Kensington, Kan., to Harrison and Lena (Jensen) Cline. She grew up in Kensington and graduated from the Almena Kansas High School in 1925. She attended McClelland Business College in Topeka, Kan., after graduation.

On April 6, 1926, she married Henry Simmons at Oronque, Kan. They farmed around Almena, Kan., for several years. They moved to Beaver City, farming in Furnas County. They lived in Denver, Colo., for awhile and moved to Kensington in 1960 and then to Franklin in 1961. Henry died June 24, 1978. She returned to Beaver City July 15, 2000, and moved to the Beaver City Manor in February 2006.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Franklin and the Mary Circle Club of the Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Floyd, Harold and Raymond; and two sisters, Flossie and one in infancy.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny and wife, Florence Simmons of Mesa, Ariz., and Phil and wife, Susan of Kearney; five grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City with her grandson, the Rev. Keith Simmons, officiating. Burial will follow at Norton Cemetery in Norton, Kan.

Visitation and viewing will be at Wenburg Funeral Home Saturday and Sunday, 1-8 p.m., and prior to the service on Monday.
