Superbad is Supergood. How many times do you think critics will use that across the country? I'm betting a lot because I just couldn't resist, no matter how perfectly stupid it sounded. Anyways, Superbad is a very well made movie. I'll warn everyone though. This is a crude, very gross out, dirty talking movie. It starts up and never quits. Take a look at what its rated R for. That is throughout the entire movie. So, I'll save you the trouble of being offended then by telling you that now. However, the movie has a soft heart and is very likable for all its R ratedness. I don't think ratedness is a word, but sounds superbad.

Well, Superbad is about two lifelong best friends who are facing a reality that they are graduating in two weeks and then both going to different colleges. Both have major issues talking and relating to the opposite sex and most of the movie revolves around these two friends, Seth and Evan, trying to impress girls. Throughout the movie, there is a whole other story going on. One of the two guys friends, Fogel, gets a fake ID and is going to buy alchohol for them but plans go wrong and he ends up hanging out with cops all night. The movie then jumps back and forth between the two stories and occasionally mixing them together. I find a description on rottentomatoes.com describes the overall tone of the film quite nicely, it says "Deftly balancing vulgarity and sincerity, Superbad is an authentic take on the awkwardness of the high school experience."

But the story is not what drives this movie. The actors make the seemingly impossible situations real and hilarious. Enough cannot be said of the comedy in this movie. I was watching the show with about 5 other people and throughout a good portion of this movie, we were all laughing out loud to the point of not being able to hear the next lines. Extremely funny stuff, even if it's a bit naughty. I enjoyed this show to no end. The sheer amount of jokes crammed into this film were great. The film is actually pretty long for a comedy, which are usually not much longer than an hour and a half. That makes the comedy even better, as I was amazed it was over. The time flew by so fast as you really start to relate to these guys through all of the craziness.

Some of the situations are grounded so much in reality that you can see this actually happening, such as Fogel getting a fake ID and changing his name to "McLovin." No first name, just McLovin. He is superthrilled about it and shows his pals who rip on him about how stupid it was to get a fake ID with that name. The result is comedic genius. The film is chock full of situations where friends bash each other over different items that come up. It all breaks and shows a soft center when the bashing becomes too real and feelings show through. Overall, its the comedy that makes this movie superbad.

I am so thrilled with this show, that I will be going again. I really want to see this show again, I want to show it off, I want to call up my friends that haven't seen it and ask them to come watch it with me. This film is a great comedy and as I've said before, the mark of any great film, for me, is the desire to see it again immediately after it gets over.

As excited and overjoyed I am with this particular film, I know it is not for everyone. This is an adult comedy about teens that is very vulgar. The movie earned its R rating and without it, I dare say it wouldn't be funny at all. So, those who can't take a vulgar joke and according to the MPAA, anyone under 17 should not be watching this film. However, every teen within earshot of Superbad will want to see this show. It is destined to become a comedy classic.
