JENNINGS, Kan. -- Archie L. Harman, 85, died Thursday (Aug. 9, 2007), at his residence in Jennings, Kan.

He was born Nov. 7, 1921, at Macksville, Kan., to Henry and Pearl (Garnett) Harman. He was raised in Macksville where he attended school. He earned a degree in biology and school counseling at Fort Hays State University.

On Feb. 28, 1948, he married Blanche Buck in Hays, Kan. The couple lived in Jennings. He was a secondary teacher and a coach.

He was a member of the Jennings United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a sister, Marjorie Carr.

Survivors include two sons, Hank and wife, Cathy Harman of Manhattan, Kan., and Patrick and wife, Francie Harman of Budklin, Kan.; one daughter, Sherry and husband, Ron Quint of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Joe and wife, Patty Haramn of Hutchinson, Kan., and Gail and wife, Kay Harman of McPherson, Kan.; four sisters, Virginia Strait of Weatherford, Texas, Oakley Strawn of McPherson, Larraine Lambert of Frisco, Texas and Lorraine Kessler of Topeka, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and special friend and companion, Vendla Tacha of Jennings.

Funeral services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Jennings United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carrie Buhler officiating. Interment will be at the Jennings Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the church.

The family will greet the public Sunday, 7-8 p.m., at the church in Jennings.
