LENORA, Kan. -- Maurice L. Williams, 90, died Tuesday (Aug. 7, 2007), at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
He was born May 19, 1917, in rural Lenora, Kan., to Grover Elmore and Sarah Elizabeth (Hodge) Williams. He grew up in the Lenora area and attended Lenora schools.
On June 25, 1938, he married Esther Madeline Scott in Norton, Kan. They made their home in and around Lenora where he was a mason and a farmer. He also worked as a school bus driver.
He was a member of the Church of God and was a Past Grand of the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 439.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther on Jan. 18, 1997; two children, Carol Ann and Lester Leroy; two sons-in-law, Albert Rollmann and Johnnie Nicholson; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include three children, Sandra Nicholson of Lebanon, Dwight and wife, Becky Williams of Norton and Pamela and husband, David Wilson of Norcatur, Kan.; one sister in law, Joyce Scott; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at the Lenora Church of God with interment at the Lenora South Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday, 3-8:30 p.m., at Enfield Funeral Home, 215 W. Main, in Norton.
