WILSONVILLE -- Robert Lyle Harding, 95, died Friday (Aug. 3, 2007), at Beaver City Assisted Living in Beaver City.

He was born Dec. 31, 1911, on a farm northwest of Wilsonville to Edward and Maude (McComb) Harding. He graduated from Wilsonville High School in 1930.

He entered the U.S. Army in September 1942, and served during World War II in the South Pacific, New Guinea and the Philippines until 1946.

He farmed after World War II until his retirement, living his entire life in the Wilsonville community until entering Beaver City Assisted Living in 2002.

He was a member of American Legion Post No. 152, Wilsonville, for more than 60 years, serving as the adjunct for most of those years. He honored veterans each Memorial Day at the Wilsonville Cemetery and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Esther Dillan and Ruth Jacobsen.

Survivors include one nephew, Dale Wilson of Wilsonville; and two nieces, Suzanne McGrue of New Canaan, Conn., and Margaret Jacobsen of Kirkland, Wash.

Graveside services and inurnment at the Wilsonville Cemetery will be Wednesday, 9:30 a.m., with Keith Theobald officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Wilsonville American Legion and VFW.
