HOLDREGE -- Maria "Mary" M. Munson, 85, died Saturday (Aug. 4, 2007), at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.
She was born March 16, 1922, to Juan and Margarita (Martinez) Maies in Tierra Amarilla, N.M. She grew up in New Mexico.
On Feb. 16, 1942, she married Max Baldonado at Tierra Amarilla. The couple followed employment to Northeast Colorado and Southwest Nebraska, settling in Wauneta in 1951, where she made her home for many years.
On Aug. 29, 1975, she married Kenneth C. Munson in McCook. They later moved to Bertrand and then to Phelps County.
She was a former member of St. John's Catholic Church in Wauneta and was a member of the All Saint's Catholic Church in Holdrege.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Max; a granddaughter, Cindi Lovitt; three half-sisters; one brother; and one half-brother.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth of Holdrege; four daughters, Margie Lovitt and husband, Bud of Decatur, Ark., Darlene Haarberg and husband, Lynn of Wauneta, Nel Murray of Kansas City, Mo., and Rae Milanovich and husband, David of Colorado Springs, Colo; two sons, Fred and wife, JoBelle Baldonado of St. Charles, Ill., and Jimmie and wife, Sharri Baldonado of Elwood; one half-sister, Paula Baldonado of New Jersey; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was today at St. John's Catholic Church in Wauneta with the Rev. Val Bartek officiating. Interment was at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.
A memorial has been established to the Wauneta Medical Clinic or the Holdrege Memorial Homes.
