ATWOOD -- Robert "Marvin" Boyd, 91, died Monday (July 30, 2007) at Medicalodge, Leavenworth, Kan.
He was born July 25, 1916, on a farm west of Lebanon to William S. and Alice Estella (Leopold) Boyd. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1934 and attended Kearney State Teacher's College until 1937.
On April 6, 1938, he married Merna M. Tigard at Lebanon. He farmed for several years, then moving to McCook to pursue his education. He graduated from McCook Junior College with an associate's degree in education, earned a bachelor's degree in education from Kearney State Teacher's College and a master's degree in school administration at Fort Hays State Teacher's College in 1963. In 1959, the family moved to Atwood where he was affiliated with the school system, retiring as elementary school principal in 1981.
He was a 50-year member of Eastern Star, the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Scottish Rite.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Merna, and a sister, Marietta Boyd Grafton.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonita Lages and husband, William of Leavenworth and Darlene Trulious of Carlsbad, N.M.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Lebanon Cemetery.
Visition is Friday, 6-8 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Shriner's Children's Hospital in care of Williams Funeral Home.
