NORTON, Kan. -- Allie Vahling, 93, died Monday (July 30, 2007) at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kan.
He was born May 10, 1914, in New Almeno, Kan., to Herman Clemens and Clare (Mindrup) Vahling. He was raised in New Almeno and attended St. Joseph's School in New Almeno.
On May 10, 1944, he married Ruth E. McKenna in Norton. He was a farmer/stockman.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Knights of America and the Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, J.C., Henry, Benny and Joseph; six sisters, Minnie Wetter, Clara Vahling, Theresa Vahling, Marie Vahling, Elizabeth Vahling and Rose Mayetski.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of New Almeno; a son, James R. and wife, Betty Vahling of Dresden; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be Saturday at St. Joseph Church in New Almeno with the Rev. Vincent Thu Laing officiating. Interment will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery in New Almeno.
Visitation is Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and from 5-8 p.m., at St. Joseph Parish Center in New Almeno.
