Richard L. Lomax

June 25, 1951 - July 23, 2007

CULBERTSON -- Richard L. Lomax died Monday (July 23, 2007) at his home in Culbertson at the age of 56.

He was born June 25, 1951, in McCook, the son of the late Everett and Leah Leona (Ruf) Lomax. He grew up at Wilsonville, where he graduated from Wilsonville High School in 1970. He also attended McCook Junior College and Mid Plains Votech School.

On Sept. 4, 1971, Richard married Robin Wagner at Culbertson. They spent their married life at Culbertson where he worked for four years for Kleins Motor and Electric and for four years was a diesel mechanic for McCook Equity, he farmed for 19 years as farming was his life long passion.

He drove school bus for more than 18 years for the Culbertson Public School and especially enjoyed spending his extra time driving students to and from sporting and musical events. He worked for six years for Valmont Industries, retiring in 2006.

He was a member of the Culbertson Rural Fire Department for more than 20 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Culbertson Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Caroline D'Amadio.

Richard is survived by his wife, Robin Lomax of Culbertson; one son, Scott Lomax of Spearfish, S.D.; two daughters, Nikki Larson and husband, Matt of Lincoln and Bridget Matson and husband, Tim of McCook; four brothers, Michael Lomax and wife, Jan of Lincoln, Kenneth Lomax and wife, Bonnie of Hugoton, Kan., Joe Lomax and wife, JoAnn of Hastings and Tim Lomax of Wilsonville; two sisters, Mary Finley and husband, Tom of Minitare and Brenda Randel and companion, Paul Gregory of Longmont, Colo.; brother-in-law, Ty Wagner and wife, Pat; mother and father-in-law, Wilbert and Patty Wagner of Culbertson; relatives; and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with the Rev. Richard Melano officiating. Interment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in his name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Chapel in Culbertson on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
