Obituary

April 5, 1940 - June 28, 2007

Pauline Marks died Thursday (June 28, 2007) at her home in McCook.  She was 67 years old.

Pauline and her twin brother, Paul were born on April 5, 1940, at Sterling, Colo., to Matthew Joseph and Anna Mary (Gertner) Korbe. She attended St. Anthony's Elementary Grade School and graduated from Iliff High School in 1958.  In 1984, she returned to school and earned her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree.

In August of 1968, she married George Irvin Marks in Sidney.  They eventually made their home in McCook where Pauline worked at Alco as an assistant manager for Alco-Duckwall, Wal-Mart and JC Penney.  She was most recently working as a nanny.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sterling and attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook.

In her free time Pauline loved to sew and do craft work.  She enjoyed camping and fishing.  Her most enjoyment came from spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Matthew and Anna Korbe; and husband, George Marks Sr.

Survivors include her three sons, Harry Marks and wife, Robin of Indianola, Bill Adams and wife, Kitty of Trenton and George Marks, Jr. of Sterling; two daughters, Liza Adams of Denver, Colo., and Monti Jo and husband, Dance Adams of Odessa; four brothers, Matthew Korbe and wife, Doris, Charles Korbe and wife, Mary, twin brother, Paul Korbe and wife, Wilma and David Korbe and wife, Anne, all of Sterling; two sisters, Martha and husband, Michael Grams of Aurora, Colo., and Nancy and husband, John Jilling of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Maranda Adams, Alexis Marks, Heather Adams, Ryan Freeze, Anthony Adams, Hannah Marks and Shannon Marks; one great-grandson, David; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved and faithful dog, Scout.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, July 10, 2007, 10 a.m., at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sterling with Father Robert Wedow as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Sterling.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook is in charge of the arrangements.
