Marissa Smith of Lincoln and Brett Lindau of Aurora, Ill., have announced their engagement and upcoming marriage.

Parents of the couple are Dave and Jan Smith of McCook and Jim and Marcia Lindau of Axtell.

The bride-to-be is a 2000 graduate of McCook High School. She received a diploma in nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and works as an oncology nurse at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln.

The prospective bridegroom is a 1999 graduate of Axtell High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He is a third year medical student at Midwestern University at Downers Grove, Ill.

The couple plans an Oct. 6, 2007, wedding at the Berean Church in Lincoln.
