SAN?DIEGO, Calif. -- Lorraine Maxine Love, 89, died Sunday (June 24, 2007) in San Diego, Calif.

She was born Dec. 18, 1918, at Cedar?Bluffs, to John Ranie Sr. and Hattie Bruce (Hawkins) Love. She grew up in Oberlin and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1935. She attended Kansas University, graduating in 1940.

She entered the U.S. Army during World War II. She lived in Chicago and Hines, Ill., Leavenworth, Kan., Iowa City, Iowa, and Topeka, Kan., before moving to San Diego. She worked as a veterans administration nutritionist.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, AAUM and AARP.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Ranie Sr., and Hattie Bruce Love and one brother, John Ranie Love.

Survivors include her niece, Karen Love Dale of Coronado, Calif.; grandnieces, Lauren Dale Hotz and Regan Marie Dale, both of San Diego, Calif.; and two great-grandnephews.

Services will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin, with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m., until the time of service.

Memorials may be given to Love Scholarship in care of KU Endowment Association.

Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin is in charge of arrangements.
