WAUNETA -- Harold Dean Breese, 64, of Hayes Center died Saturday (June 9, 2007) at Heritage of Wauneta Nursing Home.

He was born on Dec. 2, 1942, at Sidney, to Clarence Edward and Fern Frances (Walters) Breese.  He graduated from Wauneta High School and attended two years at the Voc Tech School in North Platte.

On April 6, 1966, he entered the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged on April 4, 1969.  After the service, he was employed as an electrical lineman. His job took him to several locations including Enders, Lexington, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Hayes Center.

On April 1, 1987, he was united in marriage to Janice "Jan" Elsie Rathbun in Boulder, Colo.  They made their home in Hayes Center after Harold's retirement.

He was a member of the Palisade Veteran's of Foreign Wars and the Hayes Center American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Clarence and Fern Breese; one sister, Malvina Hockley; and an infant brother, Roy Edward Breese.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Breese of Hayes Center; four step-sons, Randy Kerchal and wife Paula, Rod Kerchal and wife, Kati all of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rick Kerchal and wife, Shelly of Dickens and Rory Kerchal and wife, Lisa of Wauneta; two brothers, Dallas Breese and wife, Alvina of Wauneta and Larry Breese of Ogallala; two sisters, Vivian Mawhinny of Virginia and Joyce and husband, Alfonzo Cabrera of California;  and seven step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta with Jean Miller officiating.  Inurnment will be in Wauneta Riverside Cemetery with a Military Honor Committal.

Memorials may be given in his name.
