Ferrell and Janice Shuck

Ferrell and Janice (Ruda) Shuck of Lee's Summit, Mo., are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married June 11, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Atwood. Janice is the daughter of the late Anton Ruda and Marian Ruda, Atwood. Ferrell is the son of the late Lorin Shuck and the late Ella Shuck.

Ferrell retired in 2000 after almost 50 years in the newspaper business. 1951-1957 McCook Daily Gazette; 1958-59 Miles City, Mont. Daily Star; 1959-1965 Omaha World Herald; 1965-2000 publisher Lee's Summit, Mo. Journal.

They have four children, son Greg, Columbia, Mo., and three daughters, Beverly Shuck, Kansas City, Mo., Cindy Heier and husband, Kurt of Fenton, Mich., and Julie Doane and husband, Eric of Lee's Summit. They have five grandchildren.

They will celebrate with a reception with family and friends hosted by their children. An August trip to Alaska is planned.
