NORTH?PLATTE -- Adine "Joan" Housman, 76, died Sunday (May 27, 2007) at her home in North Platte.
She was born Oct. 26, 1930, at Hayes Center to Tony and Lucy (Brownell) Yonkers. She graduated from Hayes Center High School and later taught rural schools in the Wauntea and Hayes Center areas.
She was united in marriage to Bert B. Housman on Nov. 23, 1949, at Hayes Center. The couple moved to North Platte in February of 1959 and she was employed at Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aide and later in the public school system as a librarian at Cody School and as a media aide at the North Platte High School.
She was preceded in death by her son, James; parents; and two sisters, Dorothy Jean Yonkers and Maxine Nickles.
She is survived by her husband, Bert; daughters, Lodelia and husband, Ken Baxter and Berdonna and husband, Matt Leeper, all of North Platte; three sisters, Ceone Farmer of Cantonement, Fla., Lois Huntwark of Lincoln and Marlene and husband, Gerald Jorgensen of Gothenburg; three brothers; George and wife, Betty Yonkers of Trenton, Darwin and wife, Shirley Yonkers and Carl and wife, Muriel Yonkers both of Maywood; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were today at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at the Hayes Center Cemetery.
