WICHITA, Kan. -- Bessie Pickel, 97, formerly of McCook died April 18, 2007, at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kan. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Lena Newbrough; two husbands, Thomas Knotts and Alva Pickel; one granddaughter-in-law, Carrie Gallington; and all seven of her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Staudenmaier and husband, George of Harrison, Bonnie Johnson and husband, Jay of Wichita, Kan.; one son, Donald Knotts of Channelview, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are planned for Friday, 10 a.m. at the Sutherland Cemetery with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
