McCook Fire Chief Marc Harpham, above, cuts the windshield from a car that rolled into a county road ditch southeast of McCook at 7 a.m., today, trapping its driver, Ada Darlene Peckham, 38, of rural Indianola, inside. Peckham stepped out, uninjured, after rescuers removed the glass. Nebraska State Patrol Sgt. Joel Smith said that Peckham was eastbound on County Road 714 when she lost control in the gravel and the car dropped off a four- to five-foot embankment into the north ditch and onto the driver's side. Peckham was alone in the car and was wearing a seat belt, Smith said. Assisting at the scene were the Red Willow Western Rural Fire Department and the Red Willow County Sheriff's Department.
