Hannah Putz seeded 3rd in No. 2 singles at state tennis

LINCOLN -- McCook High School senior Hannah Putz is seeded third in No. 2 singles for the Nebraska Class B girls state tennis tournament.

The Class B state tournament will be played Thursday and Friday at the Nebraska Tennis Center in Lincoln.

Putz posted a sparkling 32-5 record during the regular season and placed second at the Greater Nebraska Activities Conference meet.

She will play Lincoln Christian's Kellie Elwood in the first round.

McCook's Brianna Watkins (10-9) will play No. 1 singles for the Bison. Her first-round opponent is Omaha Brownell-Talbot's Emily Kerr.

Playing No. 1 doubles for the Bison are Melissa Lyster and Amy Lester (25-8). They will play Lexington's Kelsey Ondrak and Danielle Tuepker in the first round.

At No. 2 doubles for McCook are Cody Korus and Alli Lester (9-3). They will play No. 5 seed Sandi Pollard and Mallory Johnsen of Beatrice (22-7) in the first round.
