Oberlin girls capture home track crown

OBERLIN -- Decatur Community (Oberlin) hosted several Kansas teams in the Oberlin invitational Wednesday.

Oberlin's girls won the event and the boys were seventh. Norton's girls took second, Rawlins County finished third and Oakley was fourth. St. Francis ended the day in sixth behind Smith Center and Hoxie was ninth.

Norton won on the boys side. Phillipsburg took second, Rawlins County was third and St. Francis took fourth.

Hoxie followed Smith Center in sixth and Goodland followed Oberlin in eighth.

Corey Mercer and Drew Basgall led Rawlins County's boys. Mercer earned wins in the long jump, 100 and 200. Basgall won the 1600 and 3200.

Levi Weeden took two wins for St. Francis Weeden won the discus and javelin.

Lauren Fortin took home two first place medals for Oberlin's girls. Fortin won the 100 and 200. Oberlin also won the 4x100 relay.

Macy Migchelbrink finished the meet with three first place medals.

Migchelbrink won the 300 meter low hurdles, long jump and 100 meter hurdles. St. Francis girls won the 4x400 relay and were second in the 4x800.
